Deviation Actions

This is something that I have been getting more and more irritated about, so if you come into reading this journal, it'll mostly consist of a rant and my disgust about how people do not understand their responsibilities with having everything they post to be viewed by hundreds/thousands of people.

I was actually about ready to fall asleep, but this irked me to the point where I had to get out of bed to get things off my mind.

I'm mostly talking about how celebrities post things on Twitter. In the past year or so alone, TWEETS have made HEADLINES on NEWS TELEVISION. Absolutely ridiculous that public figures post things that start fires.

Let me tell you guys something. Whenever you post something publicly, it has the potential to be viewed by hundreds or thousands of people across the country, even the world too. Remember the phrase from Spiderman, "With great power comes great responsibility"? This is exactly what I mean. In our day and age where anyone can become internet famous, people need to understand that they now have an image which is solely based on what they post.  Yes, like I said this is mostly on Twitter, but it's also on Facebook, Tumblr, even here.

We all need to do a better job in taking responsibility for our actions. Some people need to know what should be talked about publicly and privately. Others need to know how to word things to avoid double meanings. Sometimes, people just need to avoid posting things just to get attention.  Then, sadly, there are people who just shouldn't get fame in the first place.

I guess the morale of this journal can be condensed into a few questions:
What are you here for?
Why do you post art?
What is your goal on dA?

For me, it has changed.

I was originally here for fame. I wanted people to notice my artwork. Then I started to see that I was making things for attention rather than to just express myself. When you post just for attention, it'll get some recognition here and there, but others start to catch on and become disgusted in what you do. They know you're there for selfish reasons. That is why I am now here to help others where I can, make friends if possible. I want to share with you all what stories I have to tell in the form of art.

I hope that after reading this, you might take maybe one or two more seconds before you post something just to proofread it to make sure you're posting something that doesn't hurt your image. You all are great and I just want to make sure none of you guys get in any trouble because of what you post.

Have a good night everyone.

Sorel

P.S.
We live in a day and age where every action has a consequence, which those actions are publicized in a way that once it is out, everyone knows. This also means that the consequence is magnified. Hopefully that helps with the realization of how many people are influenced by what you say and post on the internet.

I totally agree with everything you are stating Sorel and I will tell you my reasonings for joining an art site like deviantArt:

1) I am here to make friends, expand my artistic skills and horizons through experimentations with different mediums (traditional and/or digital) also to socialize :)
2) I post art for the same reason as any artist does to receive input whether through: comments, critiques, favourities, insights, suggestions, etc. not only because I love to hear what people say, think or feel, but also to strengthen myself as an artist and individual so that the possibilities become limitless through my drawing capabilities
3) My goal on deviantArt is to get noticed hopefully by Disney (in my dreams ;p ) other animation companies or even as an individual with an artistic background to become an artist, art teacher, art counselor (anything for that matter). And what I mean by getting noticed is something that fairly everyone on this website desires, wants to achieve or obtain. If I become popular or I do not I'll be happy regardless; because of my fellow artists/supporters/friends appreciate my works just the way they are:heart:

I hope this is the answer you are looking for ;)
