King Sombra, after witnessing the fall of Twilight Sparkle, manipulated her emotions to make her his apprentice. Over the years, Twilight's knowledge of dark magic excelled at an astounding rate. (Note: Her wings are actually shadows. It's a spell only a powerful unicorn can use to make her appear as if she was an alicorn.)I spent the last couple days working on this one. It's a special one to me since I did a lot more than just slapping a pre-made vector onto a picture. I was also working on trying something new with angling.

This is awesome.
In regards to the background, I started from scratch. I wanted some FOV elements going on, so I drew a curved line like ( and rotated it to match the direction of those clouds. Then you select some colors of a gradient with the lighter ones lower on the horizon and the darker ones by the sun. You don't have to be perfect, but draw those nice and big and follow that ( mark. When it's all done, use the blur tool and blur it by 500x500 pixels. It'll smoothen the colors out to what you see here.
Takes practice, but after a bit it becomes really straight forward
Love the colours and the eclipse. The shadow wings are a nice touch as well.
